Indian Traditional Methods for Washing Hair

Indian Earthy Naturals® Hair Growth Herbs

Chances are that you do not have our best-selling Indian Ayurvedic Hair Shampoo bar which is a replacement to all the natural hair cleansing methods listed below, you will benefit from this information listed here.

METHOD 1: FULLER’S EARTH & LEMON WASH

Fullers Earth is an excellent natural hair cleanser, it binds with the grease and dirt and the silica in the fuller’s earth gives volume and natural bounce to the hair.

Fuller’s Earth – An excellent natural cleanser for hair

This hair wash method is what I have grown up with. This wash made sure my long locks were clean and manageable.

How to Use?

  1. Take a big chunk of fuller’s earth (also known as “multani mitti”) and break it into smaller pieces or better still powder. In either case, take the amount sufficient for your lock size.
  2. Place in a bowl and soak in enough water for 3-4 minutes to make a thin paste.
  3. Cut 1 large size lemon. Sqeeze and add to the fuller’s earth paste and mix both well.
  4. Apply this paste on your hair and rub your hair between your palms with gentle back and forth rubbing motion.
  5. Rinse off well with plenty of water.
  6. Wrap your hair with towel and pat dry.
  7. Allow to dry naturally.

You will have soft, clean, conditioned, and manageable hair.

Lemon is known to lighten hair, so do not use more than 1 lemon for a single wash.

METHOD 2: FULLER’S EARTH & YOGURT WASH

All the steps for using are similar to “Fuller’s Earth & Lemon” wash except that you have to replace lemon with yogurt.

METHOD 3: AMLA, REETHA, SHIKAKAI WASH

Amla, Shikakai & Reetha mix hair wash is an Indian traditional hair wash recipe & it makes hair dark, lustrous, and free of all problems. Note that all of these ingredients are part of Indian Earthy Natural’s “Indian Goddess Hair Shampoo” solid bar with loads of other oils, herbs & butters.

How to Use?

All the ingredients must be sundried before using and the container to soak them must be an iron colander to get full benefits.

  1. Take one fistful of Amla dried fruit, Shikakai beans, and Reetha (soap nuts) each. Please note, you have to break reetha (soap nuts) and take out the seeds before soaking them.
  2. Place them in an iron colander and add 3-4 glasses of water. Leave to soak overnight.
  3. Next morning, bring this mixture to a boil and then simmer for atleast 10 minutes.
  4. Allow it to cool.
  5. Seive this mixture & collect the liquid. Wash your hair with this liquid.
  6. Rinse well with plenty of water.
  7. Wrap your hair with towel and pat dry.
  8. Allow to dry naturally.

All of the above listed methods are traditional Indian hair wash methods, and your hair will benefit a lot in long run (problem free scalp, hair growth, combatting dryness, itchiness, dandruff); it is a time consuming process though!

Enjoy your hair wash time naturally!
