Caring for Your Teeth and Gums: The Ayurvedic Secrets

There are a variety of ways that you might damage your teeth over time. Some people eat too many sweets and acidic foods, which can harm their permanent set by damaging the enamel on top! Others neglect caring for them properly- either not brushing enough or going without toothpaste altogether? How to take care of your gums?

Create some basic rules of gum hygiene. Some of these are: brush twice a day, gargle after each meal, floss your teeth, and avoid eating sugar. Apart from that, there are some marvellous ingredients that you can use daily to massage your gums and gargle; these ingredients will ensure you will have no cavities when you are particular about your daily gum care. Let’s see what are these five gum care secret ingredients:

  1. Neem twigs, neem leaves or neem bark powder
  2. Turmeric
  3. Salt
  4. Astringent Oil
  5. Clove Concocted Oil

Before going to bed, make sure you are performing one of the following gum care rituals:

Oil Pulling With Mustard Oil

Ingredients: Mustard Oil, Salt, Turmeric

Method: Mix together 1 teaspoon of mustard oil with a pinch of salt and turmeric. Keep this mixture in your mouth for 4-5 minutes before spitting it out, then wait one hour to brush teeth afterwards!

Teeth Mask with Turmeric Putty

Ingredients: Turmeric, Coconut Oil

Method: You can now forget all those days you spent trying to soothe your gums with overpriced gum and toothpastes. Turmeric, coconut oil and cloves are a delicious remedy for any kind of pain in the mouth! Take 3-4 big tablespoons of turmeric and just enough coconut oil, mix them together until you have a dough like consistency. Place this putty on your gums for about 10 minutes; close your mouth but don’t chew or bite into it! The healing properties of these ingredients will bring relief from any kind pain in your teeth/gum area as well as provide astringent flavor if desired by adding clove powder.

Teeth Mask with Neem & Sandalwood Putty

Neem and Sandalwood both has healing properties. Sandalwood has added advantage of removing bad breath.

Ingredients: Neem powder, fine sandalwood powder, coconut oil

Mix all three ingredients to create a putty and keep on/between the gums for 10 minutes. Spit and rinse properly.

Oil Pulling with Coconut Oil & Clove Oil

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Clove Oil

Method: Take 2-3 drops of clove oil and mix it with 2 tablespoon of coconut oil. Keep this mixture in your mouth for around 4-5 minutes. Spit and rinse.

To avoid having tooth problems, it would be best if you manage your dietary habits by eating more alkaline food items. Coffee and tea can lead to cavities in the mouth as well as sensitive gum issues for some people who drink these beverages on a daily basis.
